The Ever-Changing Legal Landscape of Cannabis
and How it Affects the Workplace
State authorization of cannabis for both medical and recreational use affects the workplace in a myriad of ways. This includes hiring, firing, employee and customer safety, security, and various other aspects of the workplace. This presentation will include a discussion of Illinois' new statute, how state laws intersect with federal law and what you need to know about cannabis in the workplace, including how to proactive in practically managing and handling cannabis-related issues.

Jason Tremblay is a business attorney and litigator who advises financial institutions, education institutions, local governments and companies in a wide range of industries on employment law and commercial disputes. His experience in employment matters includes counseling, negotiation and litigation on issues critical to the evolving workplace including wage and hour disputes, restrictive covenant matters, FMLA, ADA, ADEA and Title VII claims. In the commercial area, Jason handles a broad range of complex business and tort litigation matters, including matters involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, interference with contract, shareholder disputes and insurance coverage. His clients operate in industries ranging from information technology, printing, manufacturing and distribution to property management, food and beverage, consulting and retail.
